DTV Converter Coupons

Don't forget to sign up for your DTV converter box coupons being offered by the government to help ease the transition to Digital Television in 2009. You have a year left to apply for yours, but I figure getting the request in early is not a bad thing. The rush for them in January and February of next year will be insane.
Since this is a government sponsored program they have made it a pain in the butt to learn about the program, and to find the web site that explains what it is. The website can be found here. And of course you can forget about using the on-line form to submit the information. I tried to use the website on three different OSs and four different web browsers and all of them came back with a connection error when you try to submit your information. I ended up printing out the PDF file and faxing it over to them. They also were smart enough to only include the alpha phone number instead of including the nice numeric phone number for easy dialing from your fax machine. You can also call a toll free number to apply if you have the patience to do it that way, or mail in your request via snail mail.
I know I requested two because not all of my old TV's are Digital Ready, the same holds true for my old video recorders, and VHS recorders. I figured I would rather be safe than sorry. I may also have to use the coming digital change over in February 2009 as an excuse to buy a bigger TV for my living room. After all I can move my old big screen digital ready TV upstairs and replace my non-digital TV in my bedroom then. *laughter*
