Just a quick post to add images of the new house. Started moving stuff in, changed all the locks on both doors and the garage, have prepared half of the walls for repainting already; and I will finish the rest of them today. Cleaned the kitchen, installed a dehumidifier and replaced several cracked switch plates. Seems to be a problem when people use a power screw driver or drill to tighten the screws on them.
Times they are a changing... for me at least. Just finalized my closing date on my new/future home. Seems like every time I speak to my Realtor, or the current owners of the home, my closing date or my property custody date keeps moving up. As it is right now I will be a home owner on June 12th, and over 2000 sqft of living space!
Anyway, this will be my new place:

I will post better bigger images once I have the keys (and garage door openers) in hand. I will have three bedrooms and plenty of room to actually have studio space, and MAYBE a home theater, because EVERYONE NEEDS one of those.
Let the packing begin.
So Friday I ordered the parts from NewEgg and they arrived today. The photo to the left are the two boxes that they arrived in. It was just about 6:00 pm when I had a chance to tear into them. To the right are all the parts that were in the first box. In case any one is keeping track at home. here is a quick list. 500W power supply, AMD Athlon 3K proc, 4 Gig DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 256 Meg NVidia 6200 Video card, 320 Gig hard drive, 16 DVD+/-RW drive, PC Chips A11Gmotherboard.. oh and a RAIDMax black and silver case. All the parts out of their shipping boxes: 15 minutes.
Computer case open and power supply installed can be seen in the next photo. Four screws and three minutes later and we are moving on. Now, if no one has ever built a computer before, the next part will take a little bit longer than it may have taken me.
If you have assembled a PC before then in a nut shell, the motherboard standoffs were spaced for a standard micro ATXmotherboard. 7 screws and about 10 minutes later the motherboard is installed and ready for all of the connections and components. The motherboard that I purchased has an integrated video card, but it is one of those that borrow memory from the system, and normally that is fine, but not if you are building a system that is going to be placed in a household where there are four kids and two adults that are kids at heart. So I opted to get a larger video card for the system. Forty minutes from cutting the boxes open I was putting the cover back on. Five minutes later and the system is connected to my KVM switch in my office and in just under an hour the operating system is being installed.
If I really wanted to push it, the entire system could be fully installed before I went to bed tonight. Instead I am taking time off to post this VOX and of course, to watch "House" on TV.
Have I mentioned that I like PC computers. Mainly because they are very affordable, and you can make them do anything that you want. Oh, and did I mention that this whole system was under $450?
